I am Autumn Mitchell. I grew up in the small town of Shady Spring, West Virginia. I began playing tee ball when I was five years old and got involved with softball in the 3rd grade. This is when I developed the passion for pitching. I loved the idea of being able to control the game and having the pressure and power to change the outcome. In high school, I was very lucky to have been involved with a fantastic program. I was a part of and assisted Shady Spring High School in winning two state softball championships in 2003 and 2005 as well as two state runner up seasons in 2002 and 2004. Once high school was over, I wanted to further my softball career and I went to play for the Marshall University Thundering Herd. While playing with Marshall, I had the opportunity to travel the country and play against the best Division I universities in the nation. I have had an amazing four year experience at Marshall and the Herd will always have a special place in my heart. Although my four years of college are over, I have been invited to play in Australia this summer for the United States Athletes International team and have one last opportunity to play the game I have been passionate about for most of my life.
When it comes to pitching, I have worked hard perfecting spins to help develop movement on my pitches. I throw a fastball, change-up, screw, turnover drop, curve, and backdoor curve. The backdoor curve has been one of my favorite pitches to throw, and I am excited to help you develop the fundamentals of this effective pitch in hopes of it bringing you as much success as it has brought to me.
